Actors’ Equity Names Aaron Thompson New Eastern Regional Director

New York – Actors' Equity Association has announced that Aaron Thompson has been named Eastern Regional Director.

"Aaron brings with him many years of experience in the theatre industry.  This experience, as well as his knowledge of other union contracts, will benefit not only the eastern region, but the entire Association,” said Executive Director Mary McColl.

As Eastern Regional Director, Thompson will oversee the region’s staff in New York and Orlando, as well as collective bargaining, contract administration and member relations. He will also work with other executive staff to implement and support the Union’s long-term strategic plan, Equity 2020.

“I’ve seen firsthand that the not just the art, but the business of theatre thrives when employees are supported with living wages and health care,” said Thompson. “I am thrilled by the opportunity to join Equity at a time when members are organizing to help find more paid work opportunities for themselves.”

Thompson has more than a decade of experience with union contracts in the theatre industry. He most recently served as Deputy General Manager of Lyric Theatre, an Ambassador Theatre Group venue, home to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
