I had just completed my MFA program from UNC-Greensboro and was trying to find the courage to move to NYC. I auditioned and was accepted for an internship with the [now closed] Pennsylvania Stage Company in Allentown, Pennsylvania. For seven months, I answered phones, painted scenery and was Third Sword Carrier from the left. But, at the end of the season, I was a proud member of Actors' Equity. I packed my bags and moved to NYC in 1981.
