Name: Ryan Worsing
Show: The Cher Show
Hometown: Overland Park, Kansas (There are many Kansas City natives working on Broadway right now. There are two in the cast of The Cher Show alone!)
Broadway Debut: Shrek the Musical! I joined the show in 2009, about three months after it opened.
Professional Training: I received my BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. And my training back home in Kansas City came from Miller-Marley School of Dance and Voice and the incredible community theatre organizations in town.
Year Joined: I joined Actors’ Equity in 2008.
How I Got My Equity Card: I had the good fortune of being hired at the Paper Mill Playhouse for my first professional jobs while I was still a student at NYU. In the final week of my second production there (Kiss Me, Kate), the theater offered to put me on an Equity contract and therefore help me gain membership to Actors’ Equity.
Broadway Chorus Credits: The Cher Show is my sixth Broadway Chorus Contract (Shrek; Irving Berlin’s White Christmas; Chicago; Finding Neverland; Hello, Dolly! and The Cher Show).
Fun Fact: I’m a huge film/TV fan, but nothing gets me like Pixar movies. And I mean nothing. Of all the incredible people we get to meet in this business, meeting Andrew Stanton (director of Wall-E) after a performance of Hello, Dolly! and hearing him tell stories of working the show’s songs into his film is one of my all-time favorite Broadway memories.
