Let Mother Spin! It's Kirsten Scott in the Robe for 'Suffs'

"I am swinging a show for the first time in my career. I used to say, oh gosh I could NEVER do that, I don't have the brain capacity to be a swing, it's the hardest job. So don't ask me why, now, as a mom of two young kids, I suddenly have the brain capacity to hold six roles -- three understudies and three ensemble tracks -- in my head... but somehow I am doing it and having a great time.

"Right now in my life, the Legacy Robe, to me, means celebrating all those moms in the chorus who are working their butts off to keep shows running and thriving while also working their butts off at home to make sure their families are thriving. We don't always get the accolades when we do the Herculean feat of going on with little or no rehearsal, on little or no sleep, so this Robe is that standing ovation we deserve."

"I remember feeling immensely proud and overwhelmed when they called my name. I had had a hard couple years trying to get back into a Broadway show after having two kids, and this show had already felt like such a gift when it came my way, so to get the Robe for Suffs felt extraordinarily special. I cried and ran around in my three-inch heels like I had wings on my feet, and it took me a long time to come back down to earth. It was a magical night."

Fun Fact: "I am mama to two little boys-- who are just learning how special and fun it is to do what Mommy gets to do for a living. I am so grateful to be raising them with this incredible community surrounding me. My older son, Desi, just got to come watch an understudy rehearsal at Suffs, and now keeps asking, 'When can I go back to Mommy's show?' I feel proud to be raising the next generation of theatre lovers."
