"The Legacy Robe honors the ensemble and brings forward what a strongly assembled and directed ensemble can be and do. We are the ones who are called first, who are released last, who move the doors, carry the costume pieces, set the tone, sing the high notes, do the summersaults and most likely head to understudy rehearsals on the 'free' days. The ceremony is also a way to bring back, hold and honor those who came before us; many of whom we lost to the AIDS epidemic in the 80's and 90's. To look around and see previous recipients who are my nearest and dearest friends was quite emotional. It made me proud to be in this circle. Watching Bebe Neuwirth light up seeing Cynthia Onrubia at the ceremony was something I'll never forget. This is for the survivors as well."
