'Buena Vista Social Club' Swing Tanairi Sade Vazquez Dons the Robe

"When my name was called to receive the Legacy Robe on opening night for Buena Vista Social Club, a huge rush of emotional gratitude came over me! Standing in the center of the stage with the Robe on made me realize how special and unique the Broadway community is, and how honored I am to be a part of it for so many years now. It also hit me that I've been doing what I've always dreamed of since I was a little girl, and in that moment I felt very proud of myself.

"As artists we always think about, 'What is the next gig?,' or always on the hustle. But I stood very tall, grounded and present in the artist I am today and everything I have accomplished throughout the years. The Legacy Robe ceremony has always been such a special moment since my Broadway debut in 2009 and I hoped that my career would one day bring me to this moment... and it did! Not only that, but I made my Broadway debut on March 19, 2009 and we opened Buena Vista Social Club and I received the Legacy Robe on the exact date – March 19, 2025!! How crazy is the universe, exactly the same day but many years ago.

"I am so honored to be part of this tradition and legacy of the Broadway community! Truly a moment I will never forget!"
