"It connects me back through a lineage of Equity Chorus Members stretching back over a half a century. That’s humbling."
Name: Manoel Felciano
Hometown: San Francisco, CA
First Broadway Credit: Cabaret, 1998
Professional Training: BA Yale University, MFA NYU Tisch Graduate Acting Program
Year Joined Equity: 1996
How I Got My Equity Card: I was hanging out with Melissa Errico at a bar, and a casting director called her the next day and said, “Who was that guy you were last night, and can he sing?" So I auditioned with no headshot, no resume – just my guitar. I sang “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” by the Police, and they took a Polaroid and wrote down my info. A couple days later I was doing that for Hal Prince and Andrew Lloyd Webber. I had no idea who they were, and didn’t give a sh*t, which is probably why I booked the ill-fated Whistle Down the Wind.
Number of Broadway Chorus Contract Credits: 5
Fun Fact: I have a three-year-old daughter, and the first show tune she picked up is “Good Night Ladies” from The Music Man (with new custom toddler lyrics, of course).
