In 2023, Equity consolidated its different contracts that governed national tours into one unified Touring Agreement. This agreement with The Broadway League can be used by both commercial and not-for-profit producers for either limited or open-ended runs.
All Equity members receive contributions to a 401(k) plan as well as health and pension benefits. The employer provides housing and per diem for all members outside of their permanent place of residence, though the rehearsal process may vary depending on where it occurs as well as the level of the tour under the agreement. Equity members participate in a percentage of any overage the producer earns on top of their salary. If and when a show recoups its initial investment, that overage participation rate increases, as does the minimum salary.
The current agreement began on February 6, 2023 (though some provisions of the agreement began later), and expires on September 7, 2026.
Members can view the Touring Agreement Summary of Changes in the Rulebook Library on the member portal. Once the fully executed agreement is agreed upon by both Equity and the Broadway League it will also be uploaded to this location.
