Equity Celebrates LBGTQIA+ Pride Month

The Diversity & Inclusion Department invites Equity members to celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride Month by participating in virtual events presented by organizations both regionally and nationwide.

Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Today, celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride is more important than ever. While great strides have been made in the securing of LGBTQIA+ human rights, anti-LGBTQIA+ violence and discrimination continue to be dangerous and pervasive, particularly in Black Queer and Trans communities as well as internationally.

Traditionally, Equity participates in Pride Marches in person in NYC, LA, and Chicago. This year, as we continue to emerge from the pandemic, we encourage members to maintain COVID safety guidelines for in person events and refrain from gathering in large crowds. While this list of virtual events is by no means comprehensive, it contains events from across the country that Equity members can experience at home.

Happy Pride!
