LOGO

Legal Issues
The Actors' Equity Association logo is a registered service mark of Actors' Equity Association and may only be reproduced by an individual member of Equity, who is in "good standing" status with the union or distributed with authorization to indicate that performers in a production are represented by Actors' Equity Association.

The logo may not be used by third-party organizations that are unaffiliated with Actors' Equity. Performers who are not members in good standing of Actors' Equity, and employers who are not signatory to an Equity collective bargaining agreement are specifically prohibited from using the logo. The logo must not be altered or modified in any way, whatsoever.

Basic rules in order to use the Actors' Equity Logo
The Equity logo may only be reproduced in black, white or if in color, with the correct colors: blue PANTONE 2935 and brown Pantone 1545 U. It can never be reproduced in any other colors.

When over a dark background color or a dark photograph, the logo must be in white. The logo may be resized, BUT the relative size and position of all elements in each logo and copyright must remain constant.

When using the logo, you may not:

  • Reproduce the logo in an unauthorized color, or tinted or with graduated tones.
  • Italicize, distort, skew or bend the logo
  • Use the logo as a repeat pattern
  • Outline the logo

Technical Issues
Equity's logo is available in black, white and color. Resolutions and applications for EPS, JPEG, GIF and PNG formats are described below.

Standard Print Logos in JPEG Format
JPEG logos are high-resolution (300 dpi) when scaled no larger than 100% of the file's original print size, approximately 2" square. Most show programs are prepared using the JPEG logo. JPEGs are acceptable in most design applications, but you can use a GIF format if you're designing in text programs like Microsoft Word.

Media Logos in GIF Format
GIF logos are low-resolution (72 dpi) when scaled at 100% of the file's original print size, approximately 7" square. GIF formats work well in text and presentation applications like Word and PowerPoint and can also be used on the Web after reducing the display size.

Specialty Logos in EPS Format
EPS files are high-resolution vector graphics that scale as small or as large as you wish, and the PostScript printer will render the image crisply – even for very large-scale projects, such as banners. Additionally, EPS logos can be placed on a colored background and will not show a white box around them (like JPEGs do). Recommended for advanced users working in Illustrator, InDesign or similar applications whose designs will output to a professional printer. You must print layouts on a PostScript printer or convert the layout to a PDF in order to print clean edges. Otherwise, use the PNG format. Available in black, white (knockout), CMYK color and Equity's two spot colors (PMS 2935 and 1545). NOTE: When you download an EPS file, your browser may change the extension from .eps to .ps – for example, instead of logo.eps it will say logo.ps – you should change the extension back to eps. You can do this either in the file download dialog box, or you can change the name of the file after you download it.

Specialty Logos in PNG Format
PNG files are high-resolution graphics with lossless compression, which offer many of the advantages of EPS (including transparent backgrounds and scalability) for internet-based usage.
