Tootsie Robe Recipient Jenifer Foote Won't Let Us Down!

The Legacy Robe is simply my favorite of Broadway traditions. I love the idea that this special tradition has been celebrated and honored for so many decades from Broadway show to Broadway show from Broadway season to Broadway season. I will forever be in awe of this business and know how lucky I am to be a part of it. I am thankful to Actors’ Equity for all of the work they do to keep this special tradition, which celebrates the sometimes overlooked role of being an ensemble member, alive. I am grateful every day I get the chance to walk through a Broadway stage door. This lucky life will never be lost on me. Receiving the Robe for Tootsie at the Marquis Theatre was particularly moving to me because I made my Broadway debut on that very stage 18 years ago and then received my first Legacy Robe for Follies on that stage as well.

Name: Jenifer Foote

Show: Tootsie

Hometown: Sacramento, CA

Broadway Debut: I made my Broadway debut in Annie Get Your Gun at the Marquis Theatre in 2001.

Professional Training I have BAs in both Dance and Drama from the University of California at Irvine. I've had many incredible teachers throughout my career before moving to New York and during my years working here. I feel most fortunate to have studied with Craig Carnelia for musical theatre song study here in New York City.

Year Joined: I joined Actors’ Equity in 2000.

How I Got My Equity Card: I got my Equity card from the Sacramento Music Circus (my hometown theater) in 2000 the summer before I moved to New York City.

Broadway Chorus Credits Tootsie is my 12th Broadway Chorus Contract.  (Tootsie marks the 4th time I've been honored with the Legacy Robe.)

Fun Fact: My favorite part of my day when I'm working on a Broadway show is my walk from my apartment on the Upper West Side to my theater in Times Square. I take the 40 or so minutes it takes to walk there to reflect on just how grateful I am, accompanied by endless showtunes played on shuffle on my iPhone. Yep, I'm still that girl walking past Lincoln Center getting teary eyed about how much I love musical theatre as "Morning Glow" from Pippin shuffles on.
