“The Robe to me is the highest honor for the Ensemble and symbolizes the hard work and dedication I have had in this field since I started. I have always dreamed of someday wearing the robe and fulfilling that dream with Mean Girls makes it even more satisfying. I have poured my whole being into this field, and especially into this show. This cast is my family and couldn't have been more apparent seeing the outpouring of love they showered me with when I was named the Robe winner. Typically there isn't a full cast picture with the Robe winner but I made sure to have my whole cast be a part of that moment, because we all lift each other up. I could go on and on, but let’s just say an item on my bucket list is checked off and it felt just as satisfying and rewarding as I imagined it would. I love this community, I love this tradition.”
Name: Brendon Stimson
Hometown: Rochester, New York
First Broadway Credit: West Side Story in 2009 as a swing.
Professional Training: Syracuse University (BFA MT '09) was paramount in my training. I wouldn't be as successful as I am without my training there.
Year Joined Equity: I had about 4 gigs lined up in 2009 post-graduation before I was lucky enough to have an immediate replacement audition for West Side Story on Broadway. If I had completed those jobs I would've had enough points to join equity through the EMC program. Fate had another idea and I happen to book Broadway 2 months after graduation. Woo!
How I Got My Equity Card: I earned my Equity card in 2009 with West Side Story
Number of Broadway Chorus Contract Credits: This is my fifth Broadway chorus credit (West Side Story, Newsies, Honeymoon in Vegas, Something Rotten!, Mean Girls)
Fun Fact: There was a time in kindergarten when I was actually diagnosed with a disease that left me paralyzed from the waist down for a week. Doctors were paraded through my hospital room to observe my symptoms because it was such a rare disease. I was luckily cured after a week and a half but I always remember there was a time I was unable to use my legs and here I am 5 Broadway shows deep. I couldn't be more grateful.
