TAKE ACTION NOW!
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) needs the help of Equity Members now! Take a few minutes to write to your Congressman urging them to support the NEA.
The U.S. House Appropriations Committee has begun consideration of legislation that would devastate the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) with a 49% cut to its budget. An amendment to restore the funding to the NEA was defeated along a party-line vote of 19-27. The committee has now suspended its consideration until mid-September.
If the cuts are enacted when the committee reconvenes, the reduction in financial support to the NEA can directly affect not-for-profit theaters at which you work. These theaters hire our members and play an important role in their communities. Take a few minutes to lend your voice.
What you can do:
If you have two minutes, please contact your member of Congress, or you can use our powerful media alert tool to send a Letter to the Editor to your local newspapers calling for Congress to reject this cut. To help you with this, we have provided links will take you to Americans for the Arts which has templates for both letters and a simple system to find the contact information for both your Congressman and the editor of your local paper.
Actors' Equity Association has long been a supporter of the NEA. Help continue that support. Take a moment and click on one of the links listed above.
