Alert: "Non-Jurisdictional" Fiction, not Fact ! AEA and 4As members should beware of ANY audition notice claiming that a production or project is "non-jurisdictional" or "not in any union's jurisdiction." It is highly unlikely that such a claim is correct. This terminology is almost exclusively used to avoid a union contract, when one should be in place. After 24 years operating under an Equity agreement, the Cumberland Theatre, an SPT (Small Professional Theatre) in Cumberland, MD, has severed their 2011 seasonal agreement with Equity due to financial reasons after one show. AEA, SAG-AFTRA, AGMA, and AGVA members are advised that there is NOT a union contract in place for this theatre. Members of Actors' Equity as well as other entertainment Unions may NOT accept employment at this theatre without an appropriate union contract. While some notices have stated “Equity members welcome”, and the production is actively seeking Equity Actors for this non- union work, please be reminded that AEA, AGMA, AGVA and SAG-AFTRA members may NOT accept employment in this production without a union contract. Alert: UPDATE Regarding Unfair Employer and Do Not Work Notice for Once Upon a Time Films, Ltd. and Sordid Productions, LLC SAG-AFTRA has advised members that Once Upon a Time Films, Ltd. and Sordid Productions, LLC have been declared an Unfair Employer and SAG-AFTRA members may not accept employment from these companies. Because there are several entities with similar sounding names that are not involved in this matter, members are also advised to use care and contact their Local SAG-AFTRA office if they have any questions regarding the identity of the companies subject to the Do Not Work order. The only entities declared Unfair and subject to the Do Not Work order are: “Once Upon a Time Films, Ltd.” and “Sordid Productions, LLC.” Other entities with similar sounding names, such as Del Shore’s “Sordid Lives, LLC,” and “Somewhat Sordid Publishing," are NOT parties involved in the pay dispute with SAG-AFTRA - represented performers and have not been declared unfair. Alert: SAG-AFTRA Notice re: Nickelodeon Please be advised that Nickelodeon is not signed to the SAG-AFTRA Television Commercials Contract or the SAG-AFTRA Radio Commercials Contract. Although SAG-AFTRA has collective bargaining agreements with Nickelodeon covering other types of programs, members are prohibited from accepting employment for commercial services by Nickelodeon or by any other employer, unless that employer is signatory to the applicable SAG-AFTRA TV or Radio Commercials Contract. Please be reminded that SAG-AFTRA members may not accept employment in commercials, whether for broadcast, cable or the Internet, unless the employer is signed to the SAG-AFTRA Television Commercials Contract or the SAG-AFTRA Radio Commercials Contract. Guild members are reminded of their obligation not to accept employment on any non-signatory project, as well as their obligation to confirm with the Guild that a project is signatory. Employment on any non-signatory project within the Guild's jurisdiction may subject a member to a Rule One violation.
